Greers Ferry Dam, approximately three miles north of Heber Springs, is a concrete dam built between 1959 and 1962. The dam's primary function is flood control, but it also serves as a hydroelectric power plant. Greers Ferry Lake, created as a result of the dam, is home to some of the best fishing and recreation Arkansas has to offer.
